Ocarinas are a type of vessel flute invented in 1853 by the Italian, Guiseppe Donati. Vessel flutes have been around since the Stone Age. They have been found on every continent of the World, and have been made out of stone, bone, wood, antlers, seedpods, jade, quartz, metal, plastic, clay...pretty much ANYTHING that someone could hollow out and cut holes into.
