The Indian Bansuri originates from the Sanskrit words BANS (bamboo) and SWAR (musical note). The Bansuri was the chosen instrument of Lord Krishna. Portraits of the gods and goddesses of India usually include Krishna holding or playing a Bansuri. One Indian myth tells that Krishna attracted his lover, Radha, by playing his Bansuri.
